History
In 1922 the first housing development under the new Free State Government began in the area known as “The Tenters”.As the population of the area increased therewas a necessity for a new church and school. St Teresa’s Church was opened on the 15th May 1926.
In 1928 a triangular piece of land measuring 3 roods and 21 perches, was purchased in the Fairbrothers’ Field by the Christian Brothers. The building of a the school began in 1929 and was completed in 1930 at a cost of £12500.
On the 18th August 1930, Scoil Treasa Naofa opened its doors for the first time with 290 boys enrolling. The enrollment rose to 440 the following year.
In 1989, with the amalgamation of Weaver’s Square Girl’s School, Scoil Treasa Naofa became co-educational school and remains so to this day.
