Hello Egg-cellent 6th class!
Bet you are egg-cited to be finally on Easter holidays!
I am too! I know it will be a different one this year, for everyone, all around the world but we just have to hope and pray that things will get back to normal soon. In the meantime, we have to keep busy! Keep up reading, fitness, your hobbies and online connections with friends. Obviously I am not assigning any school work on here but please feel free to check back in as I intend to put some throwback pictures and videos on here every few days! Also, I have lots of activities over on sites.google.com/scoiltreasanaofa.ie/6th-class to keep you occupied if you get bored over the holidays!
Have a look at the main homepage to see a video all the staff completed for all of you! We hope that you enjoy! :)
Please stay safe and stay closeby your house, if we all play by the rules, we can make a big difference. You have an important role to play. So do all your family. So do I. So do all the teachers. So does everyone. Let's all unite by staying apart.

Look at how she used the words and she even used previous WOW words - so impressive! 5 dojo points being added to your tally Zara - Leigh :)
It was Monday, the 7th of September 2019 and it happened to be Megan’s first day of secondary school. She got up at 6 o’clock so she would have enough time to get ready. She picked out her outfit attentively, got ready then she brushed her teeth. The car journey took 1 hour because she had to drive by a pasture as the motorway was closed for maintenance work. But she was happy because she woke up earlier so it wouldn't matter.
1 hour later
When she got to school everyone was so occupied because they were getting everything ready for class. Megan's friend Liam sensed foreboding about today but Megan disagreed. “Everything is going great so far” she exclaimed; “you must be optimistic Liam!” she continued. Liam is a tall boy with blonde hair, he is the same age as Megan and they were friends since primary school. Megan thought it was amusing to see everyone running around after their classes because she had enough time earlier to get everything ready. Megan was a really organised person, she loved everything to be neat and compact .
20 mins later
Their first class was gym class, Liam and Megan walked to the gym together. When they got there they sat down and waited for everyone else. Megan looked over and saw a girl getting bullied by some of the older kids. Megan had empathy for the girl because she used to be bullied herself. Megan soon realized she was looking unconsciously at the girl so she quickly glanced away. Liam was too busy disentangling his earphones to notice the girl, but Megan did she didn't know if she should interfere so she decided to ask Liam. Liam was very frank with her and stated “I know your heart is in the right place Megan, but you really meddle in other people’s business”. She knew he was wrong.
After school
Megan tentatively approached the girl, “Hi I’m Megan!” she announced. The girl looked so happy to see that someone wanted to talk to her, “hi I’m Sara!” she responded enthusiastically. That was the start of a wonderful friendship between Megan and Sara! Oh and Liam too! The end

She found it odd that David treated Carlo with such contempt. She was thoroughly unaware that Carlo was a repulsive character who had attacked David for no reason on their first encounter. Carlo, it seems, had managed to successfully deceive everyone around him, everyone except one person. Only David could see Carlo for the loathsome indivudal that he really was.
Ultimately, that is why David felt he had to leave. Hastily, he fastened his belongings and left never to return again. His departure made Maria disconsolate and uneasy. She waited restlessly for David to return but return he never did.

Wednesday 25th March
“Do the right thing, even when no one is watching!”
Happy Hump Day y'all!
So 6th class, as you may have heard, all schools will definitely be closed next week, until after Easter at least. This was probably inevitable but it's still sad (or maybe bittersweet for some of you!).
I would love even more so after that news if we could create a virual classroom so that I could check in with you and you can check in with all your classmates. I know Mr. Kelly has already been able to do it with his class with something called Google Hangouts. It's how all the teachers had a staff meeting on Monday as well! It allowed us all to have a video call and see each other's faces and be able to talk to each other. It's actually how a lot of grown ups are working right now. So how about we match them? How about we have our first 6th class video meeting? Fancy giving it a go? Good stuff! Let's schedule it for 12pm tomorrow. If you're on a desktop or laptop, you can click here meet.google.com/xfq-udsb-wwe and it will bring you to the meeting when it is on. If you are working on a phone, you can download an app called Hangout Meets by Google and you can join then when you enter the code. I will send a text to your parents to explain what needs to be done. Hopefully most of us will be able to join! It would be lovely to have a catch up!

Tuesday 24th March
"A day without laughter is a day wasted"
Good morning superb 6th class,
Hope you’re well this Tuesday morning. I know if we were in school today as planned, we would be talking about how our two teams got on at the FAI blitz yesterday! Hopefully we would be talking about a day where we represented our school with great honour and pride! Hopefully we would be feeling triumphant as well! We would also be really looking forward to Friday’s girls’ blitz. Let’s pray that the competition gets rescheduled and we get to experience this in reality!

Who am I?
Monday 23rd March
'Do something today that your future self will thank you for'
Good morning my fabulous 6th class,
I hope you had a nice weekend and you were able to mark Mother’s Day for your wonderful Moms yesterday. I know last week, I had not assigned IXL as compulsory homework but a big well done to Kenzie, Aras and Tadhg who still completed over 50 questions and receive 2 dojo points each for that. Well done boys! Tadhg you earned another 2 points (4 in total) for being the highest scorer on the IXL throughout the week so good on you!
So today marks a new week of school from home for you. I know it's a strange time for you all. As I said in an earlier post, please try to replicate a school structure of some kind at home, but I do know it’s hard but please do try. That’s all I ask. These weeks aren’t your Easter holidays, please please work hard for the next two weeks and then you can enjoy the Easter holidays with a break from all school work and hopefully we will be back to school after that.

Friday 20th March
Hello my lovely 6th class’ers,
I hope you are all keeping safe.
So today I was due to collect the homework from March 9th onwards and test you on your WOW words, spellings and Gaeilge spellings. Obviously that can’t happen but the tests still can!
1. I would love you to complete your Words Their Way spelling test by having someone ask you them.
2. Rather than spelling out the Gaeilge spellings, I have an unjumbling activity here for you. I will put up the answers later tonight.
1.Parade = iarápd = _____________
2.people of Ireland = úitnirm an irenhEan = __________
3.St. Patrick’s Day = áL éilFhe gadPrai =____________
4.dream = óinbglirdo = ________________
5.shamrock = seamróg = _________________
6. information = loase = _________________
7. I was born = dugrah ém = ________________
8. working = ga iabro = __________________
9. Wales = nA aireatnBh gBahe = ________________
3. For your WOW word story, please review your WOW words by inserting synonyms and antonyms for each into your vocabulary hardbook. I’ve made life easier for you by thinking about them for you, pick one of these or else feel free to think up your own!
ANTONYMS WOW WORD SYNONYM
soothing / calmimg provocative (adj) exasperating /annoying
strolling / ambling hurtling (v) speeding / careening
----------------------- inferno (n) blaze / fire
good-natured, pleasant ill-natured( adj) spiteful, malicious
dishonestly, half-heartedly earnestly(adv) seriously / sincerely
often / frequently seldom( adv.) rarely /hardly ever
calmness, serenity disquiet( n) worry / anxiety
emerging / showing lurking ( v.) sneaking / slinking
striding / marching hobbling (v.) limping / staggering
politely / courteously curtly ( adv) abruptly / rudely
4. Spend 30 / 40 minutes today on your WOW word at some stage today.
Here’s an example I wrote! See can you do better! I bet you can!
______________________________________________________________________________________
"Whatcha staring at?” Jimmy bellowed at Sam provocatively as he hurtled along on a quad. Sam resisted the temptation to react but wondered where he had got the quad from. Sam hobbled away, with his trademark limp. Sam’s leg had been badly burnt in that inferno that swept through his farm years ago when he attempted to salvage his cattle from near death.
Sam didn’t deserve to have Jimmy as a neighbour, nobody did. Jimmy was a despicable man who was ill – natured to everyone he met. He was a curt and brash man, the complete antonym to Sam. Jimmy seldom worked an honest day’s work and instead, he lurked around neighbour’s farms trying to steal anything he could. By contrast, Sam was an earnest, hard working man who did his best for his family. The way Jimmy lived caused Sam a lot of disquiet but his wife always pointed out that spiteful, malicious men like Jimmy were not worth thinking about.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
5. Let's finish on a song we know well from our SPHE lessons. Let's dedicate this song to your fantastic Moms; whether you are spending Mother's Day on Sunday with your Mom or going to mark the day by thinking about your Mom, play this song in her honour and remember to do something nice for her or in remembrance of her. Stay safe, take care, M.s. Spillane
I hope you are all keeping safe.

6th Class Update for Thursday 19th March 2020
Hello 6th class,
I hope you are keeping well and keeping safe. That's the most important thing right now. But it is still hard to know exactly when we will be back to school and this is why it is also very important that you attempt to complete the school work that I have assigned to you in your booklet. The homework is compulsory and the other sheet has a list of optional homework activities. These are strongly recommended, and a lot of them are fun I promise! I will also be putting up some daily activities here every morning so please check it every day. Please try to keep a daily structure even though you are at home and it will be difficult at certain times. I understand that and I accept that there will be challenges for you but every child in the country, and indeed across the world right now is in the same boat as you are and most are doing their best to complete their school work.
Please be in the 'most' category.
Please also try to practise your growth mindset. I've seen a big change in how a lot of you approach your work in school. I've seen you try your best when you previously might have given up and this has shown in your results. Please continue to work on this and believe that you will achieve if you work hard enough. Because you will. Effort equals success.
Use your growth mindset to improve a non academic skill over these weeks too. Also, now would be a good time to really practise those goals that you made at the start of January which stated one thing you would do better or help at in your home. Please practise these and try to help your family in any way you can.
This is a time when you can really show independence and maturity and show that you are a sensible 6th class pupil on the cusp of secondary school. Show that by having a growth mindset, show that by doing your work every day without people at home having to remind you, show that by staying indoors when possible, show that by helping out at home and show that by being kind to people who you live with.
Please take care,
I hope to see you all very soon,
Ms. Spillane

Memorable Moments in March
Unfortunately we were only in school until March 12th, but we certainly made the most of the month with some memorable moments in those 12 days. From World Book Day and the girls and boys' football blitz to the Confirmation, it was a very busy time where memories to last a lifetime were made. Over the next weeks when we face uncertainty about our return to school, I hope that we can all reminisce about the fantastic memories we've made in 6th class so far and be positive and optimistic about making some more memories together as a class.
Confirmation Ceremony for 6th Class on Thursday 12th March
|
Check out this video of all the Confirmation candidates and some photos of the very special day below. I have not doubt but that this day will live long in the memory of the 14 Confirmation candidates who celebrated this special Sacrament on Thursday 12th March, 2020. Congratulations to you all!

The Victorious 6th Class Boys' Winning Team
There were scenes of jubilation in St. Catherine's Centre on Monday 9th when Scoil Treasa Naofa represented by seven seriously skillful 6th class boys finally triumphed at the annual Dublin 8 Soccer Blitz organised by An Garda Siochana It was no more than the team deserved having represented themselves so well and showing such great sportsmanship throughout the whole tournament. Their exemplary behaviour, sense of fair play and their mutual respect was commended by all the Gardai as well as their mesmerising skills and fancy footwork which saw them crowned worthy champions for 2020! It was a proud day for themselves, their class, the other member of the Scoil Treasa Naofa soccer club, the whole school and especially for Ms. Spillane, Mr, Kelly and Mr. Bonner, the trainers. A big thank you to the Gardai from Kevin St. and Kilmainham for another fantastically organised event.
The team comprised; the fearless ZE in goal who kept 5 out of 6 clean sheets and made many brave saves in a tense final few minutes in the final. He was solid and ever dependable throughout the whole tournament. He kept a calm head at all times and played an crucial role in our success. Defence consisted of BB who was reliable and consistent throughout, he even popped up with an important goal to get us into an early lead in the second game at a time when we easily could have conceded a goal. He kept a calm presence in the heart of the defence in the final and this was much needed. Alongside him was MB, the overall Player of the Tournament and my goodness, did he fully earn that accolade! What a commanding presence he was in our solid defence, very few managed to get by him and if they did, it wasn't for long until he reclaimed the ball from them! When he did dispossess an opponent, he didn't just clear the ball, he had the ability to pick out a fantastic pass time and time again! He also contributed some important goals too, we won't forget his strike at the death of the last group match to earn a 3-3 draw! Midfield maestro KF, in the engine room, made everything tick. Box to box, you could find him anywhere on the pitch and putting in a serious shift in every match. He always set the right tone for his teammates and constantly encouraged and inspired them, even when going 2-0 down in the last group match. KF rallied his troops like a inspirational captain does and he played a major role in that comeback. Amazing long range goals and unintentional (or intentional!) flicks to precision finishes in front of the goal, KF managed it all! His goal that won the final will be etched in our minds for a long time to come! What a sublime strike - strength, power, and courage - it deserved to win the final for us! PR, playing in the attacking midfielder role formed a deadly trio with KF and BA. He made a habit of running onto KF's shots and getting a scruffy finish. It didn't matter as long as it went in and we were hitting the ground running thanks to PR's clever thinking. This tactic worked well for PR but that wasn't all he had to offer the team. PR showed such intelligence throughout every match; he made space for himself when others would think it was futile. He made chances out of nothing. And all the while, played with a smile on his face! He deserved the hat-trick he got in the second game for his sheer hard work. Fantastic attitude and fantastic work ethic shown by PR in every game. BA, the prolific scoring machine up front lived it to his name. He wasn't just in the right place at the right time, he had the cleverness to make sure he was away from defenders and in a better scoring position. It's no surprise that he ended up as top scorer in the tournament. His goal in the semi final meant we could all breathe a sigh of relief, it was no more than he deserved for his hard working display and helped us secure a place in the final. We feared the worst when he was on the receiving end of a robust challenge in the final and his game was cut short prematurely. He was a huge loss to us and our scoring chances were limited when he left the pitch. That says it all! Thankfully, BA was not seriously injured and he was there with his teammates at the end to celebrate! AF played a vital role too, he worked tirelessly to chase down opponents and although not getting on the scoresheet, he played his part and can claim some assists along the way! When his teammates were tiring in the last few minutes of the final, AF used every ounce of his energy reserves to force the other team to concede a kick in and this took the pressure off some weary, frail bodies! It helped wind down the clock a little bit. AF did all he could to preserve the slender lead and when the final whistle went, there was nobody more deserving than a huge pat on the back from his teammates than AF! There were scenes of sheer delight, jubilation and euphoria when the final whistle went! Scoil Treasa Naofa had finally done it..... won the Dublin 8 Blitz!
World Book Day 2020
Given Ms. Spillane's love of WOW words, it was no great surprise that she opted to dress as a dictionary on the front and a thesaurus on the back!! There was some really great efforts in 6th class overall, from Jurgen Klopp to Wall - E and lots in between! Well done everybody!
Fantastic February Fables
In February, our theme was Storytelling and it was a really enjoyable theme. We studied the association between Shrove Tuesday and pancakes before we devoured some! We learnt about the history of St. Patrick's Cathedral before we visited the cathedral and had a wonderful tour there as well as made some lovely stained glass tissue paper art creations. We studied the unusual story of how the relics of St. Valentine came to be at Whitefriar Street Church, a church only a 1km away from us. It was a great month of learning and it was so beneficial that our school is placed where it is and allows us to visit some of Ireland's iconic landmarks. We don't know how lucky we are!

Did someone say pancakes?? Don't mind if I do!
Joyful Jubilation in January!
Wow! What a January that was! Where do we start?! Ah yes, let's start with our hugely successful Celebration Day performance! What a fun day! After much deliberation and contemplation, 6th class decided to base their Celebration Day around a Scoil Treasa Naofa’s Got Talent production! It was a big undertaking for all involved, but with commitment and determination, the whole production came to fruition and it was a fantastic show! It featured 4 joyless judges (take a look at the video below to see just how despicable these judges are!), a dapper and talented Master of Ceremonies (MC), a thorough and efficient stage production manager and a guest appearance from a famous and charismatic writer! Battling it out to be crowned ‘Scoil Treasa Naofa’s Got Talent winners were 10 contenders: a creative mime artist, a lyrical musician on his recorder, two peaceful Pilates performers, an outrageously witty comedian, a boisterous rapper, a talented baton twirler, two artistic Art exhibitors, an agile Karate sensation, two ‘Strongmen’ contending to be the ‘Strongest in 6th Class’, and the renowned Scientist Dr. Ali Einstein! It was a nerve racking performance for most but the nerves were replaced by sheer jubilation and feelings of joy and euphoria when they received a rousing reception from the captivated audience! It was a jam packed schedule and what a great way to showcase the individual talents on display in 6th class! What a talented bunch they are1 But that wasn’t all, the play ended with an emotional and stirring performance of a song that 6th class made up themselves with a little help from Ava. It was called ‘We’re all in 6th Class', to the tune of Dermot Kennedy’s Outnumbered. It even got some positive feedback from RTE stars Marty and Sinead!! Wow! Later on, we invited the parents and families to our classroom where they enjoyed some refreshments and we entertained them with some videos of goings on in 6th class since September and they also listened to some fantastic writing samples from our budding authors! It was a fantastic day all in all, very memorable and one that the class will reminisce about in time to come. BREAKING NEWS: Happy New Year From 6th Class and Ms. Spillane! Stay tuned for a busy and eventful 2020 with bucketloads of fun but even more ample amounts of learning! Let's get it started!
December Delights
December was a very enjoyable month for 6th class pupils as we studied Religions All Around the World with particular focus on Christmas and the differences between the five major religions of the world. It was a very interesting exploration of the different religions within our class grouping. Lots of the 6th class members of the School Choir represented the class and the school fabulously in recent carol services in the Donore Church, Crumlin Childrens' Hospital and Bru Caoimhin Nursing Home. We are very proud of their efforts. There was a lot of Christmas events happening throughout; from a visit to Synge Street Christmas Show to making and decorating Gingerbread Men. 6th Class and Ms. Spillane wish you all a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
November Notices!
We were back from Mid - Term and hit the ground running straight away in November. We studied the theme Science and the Future throughout the month and this conicided perfectly with College Awareness Week, Science Week and activities such as the SARI Soccer Against Racism Institute workshop. The College Awareness Week culminated with a trip to Trinity College Dublin and a fantastic gathering there. The month finished up with a trip to Dail Eireann and we were delighted to meet Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin who was very kind to us throughout the day.

October Opportunities: A busy October means a well earned Mid - Term Break!
We had a very vigorous run up to our October Mid - Term break which included a comprehensive study of Japan as a theme. This coincided with Ireland's bid to win the Rugby World Cup over in Japan. Have a look at what our study of Japan included below. Maths week was hectic for 6th class as we made a Maths trail for the junior classes and another for the senior classes so we were very busy throughout thinking up some creative Maths challenges! We also enjoyed a trip to UCD as part of the Solas programme in 6th class; we enjoyed a tour of the Science building, an experiment about how our brains work and of course, a delicious lunch! Furthermore, we were delighted to be asked to participate in a Dublin 8 Primary Schools' Art Exhibition titled '150 Years of the Liberties: Past, Present and the Future'. It was a challenging Art project but ultimately very rewarding and each and everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed it! Take a look at the video to see more!

A busy first month in 6th class! September Surprises!
September was a very busy month in 6th class. We got back into the swing of learning and studied themes such as Teamwork and The Famine. We were busy attending action packed Open Days in our neighbouring secondary schools and we visited the Dolphins Barn library. Of course, the Kerry versus Dublin All Ireland final and subsequent replay provided a lot of entertainment throughout the month and there was a homework contract drawn up on the basis of the result!!

So long to 5th class!
Wow! Well that was quick! Another year done. Very best wishes to 5th Class as they head on their final year in Scoil Treasa Naofa. It's been an amazing year of learning and fun, with a selection of some highlights above, and so many trips it's impossible to choose one as the best. This week we enjoyed the beautiful views as we walked from Greystones to Bray. Then we finished our year with a great day out in Tayto Park. The weather was stunning. On our final final day, we cooked up our potatoes (fried, yum!) and watched a movie. we are ready for 6th Class, bring it on! Very best wishes and have a safe and relaxing summer.
Our Crop of Potatoes!
We planted some potatoes in April and we finally reaped our rewards this week. Lovely new potatoes! Now our only problem is how to cook them...boil? Steam? Chips? Mash? Potato cakes? What a nice problem to have as we near the end of the year :)
Multicultural Week
A visit from a world trekking photographer who let us hold a meteorite, a visit to Irish Aid to learn about Tanzania and the UN sustainable goals, pictures of our teachers in far flung places, a flash mob, our classmates dressed in spectacularly colourful native dress, wonderful dishes of food from all over the globe...yes it's that time of the year again - Multicultural Week! It keeps getting better and better (w/thanks of course to Ms Spillane!). For the multicultural assembly our class wrote a poem that included all the nationalities of our class. Please enjoy!
The Flags of our Class
Our class is like a rainbow
Of countries far and wide
Listen as we list their flags
So colourful and bright.
Pakistan’s is green
Plus white moon and star.
From the summit of its mountains
You can see extremely far.
Congo has a perfect flag
There’s yellow, red and green
And colourful Nigeria’s
Really should be seen.
Turkey has a nice flag
With a star and white moon
It’s famous for the Blue Mosque
You should visit soon.
Egypt has a tricolour
That’s red and black and white,
Mo Salah is their hero
Who fights to make it right
Morocco’s flag is blazing red
Like the blazing sun,
Just like your skin will be
When your visit’s done.
Ukraine’s flag is really nice
Bright blue and sunny yellow
Privet’s the word you need to use
If you wish to say hello.
Ireland’s flag is orange and white
And the 40 shades of green.
The trees, the mountains and the fields
Are the best there’s ever been.
Lituania’s lovely flag
is green and red and yellow
There’s lots of trees and lakes there
To make you feel quite mellow.
The flag of Kurdistan
is green and red and white,
Sometimes the weather’s kind of dark
Sometimes it’s really bright.
Somalia’s flag is blue and white
As blue as the desert sky,
Look up and you may catch a glimpse
Of the bird flocks soaring high.
As colourful as flags may be
One thing is really true
We are all connected
And respect to all is due.

Forest School Iveagh Gardens
5th Class are presently completing a short programme of Forest School in the Iveagh Gardens. Forest School is an inspirational process, that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees. Every Friday we travel to the small woodland area in the Iveagh Gardens and set up our camp. We play some group games and then we chose our activities for the week. Some of us play chase in the trees, some of us spend our time climbing. Others learn how to saw and cut and make creations using wood and natural materials. To finish we play another group game. Usually it is Eagle Eyes - we love it so much!
Hellfire Visit 2019
By Alex, Aras, Bobby, Bradley Faith and Paul
On 9th May 5th class visited the Hellfire Club. We travelled there with Liam Holland and hsi team from Kevin St Garda station. We travelled in two buses. When we arrived we climbed the steepest path to the top. When we got there we visited the Hellfire Club building and Liam told us its myths and legends. Afterwards we played a brilliant game of rounders. Then we descended and there was a delicious barbecue waiting for us in the car park. It was so tasty. When we had finished eating we walked to the Massey Woods and entered the river! We were soaking. It was incredibly cold but lots of fun. We returned to the car park and drove home, exhausted but happy.
RDS Science Blast
After months of preparation and experimentation, 5th Class visited RDS Simmonscourt to present their science investigation "How Does a Body Get Stronger" at the annual Science Blast. We began our work last year by deciding on our project, then completed our investigation in January and February. Finally, we organised all our information and created a display. We travelled to the RDS and had a wonderful day telling people our findings, as well as looking at all the other exhibits, the numerous shows and grabbing as many freebies as we could. It really was an amazing day.
Grandparents' Day
Many thanks to the wonderful grandparents who visited our class. for one of the nicest celebration days of the year. It was a real pleasure to hear the stories of their school days and childhoods. We had a lovely time planting some spring bulbs to say thank you for all the amazing things our grandparents do for us.
Dreamspace Visit
5th Class enjoyed a lovely trip to Dreamspace at the Microsoft offices to begin our Junior Achievement programme with Colin and Ciara from Avanade. The offices were amazing. We learned about STEM and the four Cs - Creativity, Communication, Collaboration and Critical Thinking. We were really looked after with lovely snacks, a great lunch and gift bags.
Library Visit
Fifth Class had a nice visit to begin the New Year. We travelled to Kevin's St Library to collect our new library cards and have a short tour of their gorgeously renovated building and fantastic facilities...there's even an indoor slide! We would like to thank the staff of the library for their warm welcome and helpful guidance. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

National Tree Day
5th Class enjoyed a fantastic trip to Stephen's Green to celebrate National Tree Day, a yearly event to promote the importance of trees to the natural environment. We learned how to identify different trees, how important it is for trees to spread out so as not to compete with each other for food and light and even how to estimate the height of a tree only using a metre stick! It was a lovely day and a big thanks to the OPW in Stephen's Green for looking after us so well.

October
We have had a very busy month in 4th Class. Some of the class went to the opening of Weaver Park on Oct 2nd. We had great fun and some of our students did interviews which were recorded by RTE and different newspapers. We all saw our 4th class celebrities on TV.
We really enjoyed Maths Week when we made a maths photo, did a maths quiz, completed a maths trail and played lots of maths games.
As part of our Procedural writing we wrote directions on how to bake cookies. We then baked the cookies in class to have for our party as we had earned enough Dojo points. We also carved pumpkins and gave them names for Halloween.
We hope everyone enjoys the mid-term break and has a happy and safe Halloween!

We have settled really well into 4th class. Holly has joined our class this year and we said a sad goodbye to Shehzar who moved to another school. Our first art project this year was these self portraits. Can you guess who is in each portrait?
