4th Class A End of Year Video
What a year we've had together it's definitely been a memorable one. From learning the recorder to creating amazing Norman castles we learned so much and had so much fun together. You have all done yourselves and your family proud with your hard work and fantastic attitude. It really has been a brilliant year! I'm just sad it got cut short. Take a look below at some of our highlights. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe summer and hopefully I might get to drop in next year to see you all.
Best wishes,
Ms. Mulqueen

Spring Garden
Hello wonderful 4th class. I hope you are all enjoying your Easter holidays I promised I'd keep you all updated on my new vegetable patch on the farm so I've taken a few pictures over the last few weeks to show you what I've been up to. I know so many of you have wonderful green fingers after last years herbs that everyone grew so some of you might like to see how other vegetables are grown.
I started my garden back on the 22nd of March. As you'll see from the first picture the first thing I needed to do was to lay some cardboard on the bottom this helps to stop weeds and grass growing up through the patch and it will also decompose so no need to worry. Next I placed some hay on top to give it some height, on top of that farmyard manure was put on this is like magic food for the plants it helps them grow big and strong. Lastly I put on the compost (this is what we planted our tulips in) as you know this again gives the plants food and nourishment.
Next it was time for planting have a look at the pictures and see can you recognise some of the seeds that were planted. I'll be sure to keep you updated on their progress and maybe if they grow well I can show you some of the final produce. I started painting some signs for my garden too maybe some of you could draw or paint some of the vegetables that are growing and send them to me by email at imulqueen@scoiltreasanaofa.ie.

Happy Easter
We have made it 3 weeks of home learning! Well done to everyone who has put in such a big effort to continue their hard work from home. I hope everyone takes a well earned break and enjoys their time off while staying healthy and happy. I look forward to talking to you all on our video chats after Easter and can't wait to hear what you get up to over the next 2 weeks. I'd love to see some pictures of the art, crafts, baking or writing for fun you might get up to. Stay safe I'll be putting up a few fun activities over the next couple of days for anyone who wants to give them a go and I will also show you some of the progress I've made with my garden.
Best wishes,

Busy Workers in 4th Class A
I received 2 wonderful emails from children in our class this last week. Both of them had been really busy writing and drawing. Lojeyne wrote a wonderful report all about sheep as well as a recount story about when she visited a farm. Shahariar sent me on a fantastic picture of a farm he drew including lots of different animals. Lojeyne received 10 extra dojo points for her excellent writing and Shahariar got 5 extra points. If you want to earn a few more Dojo points why not send on some of your great work to imulqueen@scoiltreasanaofa.ie.

More Sheep
As I was telling the 8 people that got the chance to join our video chat today I've been out and about helping on the farm over the last few weeks. Yesterday we needed to dose the lambs this means we needed to give them a little injection to protect them from diseases and keep them nice and healthy. After we dosed them we put a little, blue mark on their head with something that looks like a giant crayon. This is so we can tell which lamb we've already injected. You can see in the pictures once we were all done they had a small journey to a new field full of fresh grass. I got some brilliant name ideas today too, I think we'll have to settle with Dolly, Ruby and Rosie.
Comprehension Corrections
Hopefully everyone has completed their comprehensions from the last 2 weeks. The answers to the 6 comprehensions have been uploaded below have a look and see how many of them you got correct.

Good morning boys and girls,
Here is a list of the work for today. Remember this work is a guideline and if access to online materials is difficult just try your best. Make sure to fit in some form of exercise into your routine also because it's so important that your mind stays healthy. Unfortunately, during all the rush on the last day I didn’t get a chance to send home your Wow Word copies and I know many of you don’t have many copies at home with you. Please try and do the work either in a spare copy or notebook or at the back of your Maths copies.
On Monday we always do our wow word definitions so today I’d like you to start by using this link to write down the definition for each of these words. https://www.dictionary.com/
Wow Words

These words have been taken from our new online ebook Air Raid by Jean May.
1. Please follow this link https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/api/digital_books/1110.html

Spring on the Farm
Some of you may be wondering what I've been up to since school has closed. Well I'm at home in Co. Clare at the moment and as you know I live on a farm. It's been a busy few weeks with lots of lambs being born. I have shared some pictures below of some of the new additions to the farm. Also have a flick through to see our gorgeous dog Collie. Triplets are quite common when sheep have lambs let's see if you can spot them in the slideshow? If you have any name suggestion for our set of triplets send them on via email they can become our class mascots.
Here are some ideas of what you could work on based on the lovely sheep. Why not give some of the activities a go. If anyone completes any 2 of the activities and sends them on they will get an EXTRA 10 DOJO POINTS!
Writing: Write a narrative story about the farm
Write a report on sheep
Reading: Why not read an animal themed ebook for free just follow the link below and enter 4thclassa as your username and the password is 4thclassa as well https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-pupils/pupil-home?utf8=%E2%9C%93&age_group=&series=&theme=animals&query=¤t_page=books
Maths: If there are 34 sheep on the farm and 15 sheep have twin lambs, 10 sheep have single lambs and 9 sheep have triplets how many lambs are there altogether?
Science: Life cycle of a sheep https://study.com/academy/lesson/sheep-life-cycle-lesson-for-kids.html
Art: Drawing/Painting why not draw a picture of one of the cute lambs I'd love to see what you've come up with.

Good morning 4th class,
Our video chat was a huge success yesterday with 9 children managing to log on for a check-in. It was lovely to be able to see and talk to each other and also see how much work all the children have been busy doing. Well done to everyone who made themselves available to check-in. I know some people weren't able to make it yesterday but hopefully they might be able to log in next time. We decided as a group that we would try and have another video chat next Wednesday at 12 midday again. I will let you know the details for this chat next week.

Mother's Day
Tomorrow is Mother's Day and I know many of you might not be able to go out to buy a present. Everyone knows homemade cards are always better than bought ones anyway so why not let your creativity flow and design your very own Mother's Day card. There are some ideas below which I found online but you can always make up your own design. You don't need coloured card why not just use normal/recycled paper and colour it in yourself.

If cards aren't your thing why not show off your great cooking skills and make your mother breakfast in bed in the morning. Make sure when cooking you do have adult supervision. Remember you can keep it simple why not make her favourite cereal or toast. It's the thought that counts.
Hope you all have a safe and happy Mother's Day.
Best wishes,

The Lost Ceilí Commemoration
We were lucky enough to be invited to take part in the commemoration of the lost Ceilí of 1916. We all got dressed up in traditional clothes of the time and danced two traditional Irish dances in Donore Centre including the Siege of Ennis and the Walls of Limerick. It was great fun and we wanted to say a huge thank you to all the parents who helped get our costumes ready for the day.
Tulips for Spring
We planted some lovely tulips this month even though they may have been planted a little late we're hoping they should flower soon.
Pancake Tuesday
We celebrated pancake Tuesday with plenty of pancakes and delicious toppings.
Cooking
Over the last 5 weeks we have been learning how to cook. With the help of Vivienne and Carol (our experts) we have made chicken wraps, vegetable soup, brown scones, spaghetti bolognese, chicken curry, apple crumble, burgers and wedges as well as raspberry buns. It has been great learning all these new recipes and I hope everyone will get a chance to practice them all at home too.
Learning about the Normans
In January we started learning all about the Normans. We started building our motte and bailey structures. It took many weeks of hard work but they turned out fantastic. We also had a visit from a very special historian from the heritage council who taught us even more about how the Normans lived especially here in Dublin. She brought in lots of different artifacts for us to look at and hold.
December Fun
December was a great month full of lots of fun activities. We created our own ginger bread houses, went carol singing and even had enough Dojo points to have a very special hot chocolate party.
Science!
In November the children learned all about heat they used junk art to create a hut which would withstand the cold, harsh climate of the Arctic have a look below to see some of the different designs.
Seasonal Art
We had so much fun creating these wonderful still life drawings from chalk pastels. We looked carefully at the unusual pumpkins to create some beautiful artworks.

Pancake Tuesday
We were well prepared for pancake Tuesday this year. We made our pancake batter in class on Monday so that on Tuesday we had delicious pancakes. We used our multiplication skills to figure out how much of each ingredient we needed and measured everything carefully. On Tuesday we enjoyed our pancakes with lots of different toppings.
Grandparent's Day
We celebrated grandparent's day last week in Scoil Treasa. We were so lucky that so many of our wonderful grandparents could come and visit our class. We made cards for all our grandparents even if they couldn't make it on the day and we asked some tough questions to the grandparents who did visit. I know all of 3rd class would really like to thank all the grandparents for coming as it was a wonderful experience.

We have planted some of these into pots and look forward to seeing if they will grow.
